Hong Kong Badminton and Boccia Team Sailed Through Pool Matches

Badminton has its debut today (2 September) as the sport’s pool events commenced. CHAN Ho Yuen, in Men’s WH2 Singles, outplayed French player Thomas JAKOBS 21-10, 21-8 while CHU Man Kai also defeated Krysten COOMBS of Great Britain 21-15, 21-10 in Men’s SH6 Singles.
Boccia Mixed Pairs group matches kicked start as well, BC3 athletes HO Yuen Kei, partnering with TSE Tak Wah and LIU Wing Tung, won Portugal 4-1 and then Japan 4-4 (tie-break 2-0). BC4 trio LAU Wai Yan, LEUNG Yuk Wing and WONG Kwan Hang were in good form to beat Japan 7-1 and Columbia 6-2.
In Men’s and Women’s Men’s 100m Backstroke S14, HUI Ka Chun touched the wall at 1:02.74 and took the 11th place. CHAN Yui Lam timed 1:12.57 in heats and then 1:12.49 in finals to rank 6th . Swimming Team completed all their events and will return home with Cathay Pacific Airways flight CX521 on 4 September afternoon and are expected to arrive at 9:20pm (Hong Kong time).
Hong Kong team will continue to compete in badminton Men’s WH2 and SH6 Singles, boccia Mixed BC3 and BC4 Pairs events tomorrow (3 September).
