Day six of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games kicked start with Boccia’s third round of individual pool plays. BC4 player LAU Wai Yan Vivian went undefeatable in pool A, getting a convincing win over Martin STREHARSKY of Slovakia 8-1 in her last match. LEUNG Yuk Wing lost to Eliseu dos SANTOS of Brazil 4-6. Holding 2 victories out of three matches, he still managed to advance to quarterfinals with a greater point difference and will play Michaela BALCOVA from Slovakia. WONG Kwan Hang, winning Japan’s Shun ESAKI 5-3 in last pool game, could not move forward due to insufficient point difference.
BC2 bowler YEUNG Hiu Lam triumphed Portugal representative Abilio VALENTE 4-3 with all-winning record in preliminary group F and set up a quarterfinals against Maciel SANTOS from Brazil.
HO Yuen Kei and TSE Tak Wah overcame Portugal bowler Jose MACEDO 3-1 and Japan bowler Keisuke KAWAMOTO 3-2, holding 2-1 win-loss record in BC3 individual pool B and pool C. However, HO Yuen Kei miss out a chance to advance because of lower scoring points throughout the pool matches, while TSE Tak Wah also failed to progress to knockout round as a result of lower point difference.
Hong Kong team will participate in boccia BC2 and BC4 Individual eliminators and swimming Men’s and Women’s 200m Individual Medley SM14 tomorrow (31 August).
