YAM Kwok Fan and HUI Ka Chun to Carry Flag and March at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games was officially declared open this evening (24 August).  The Delegation attended the Opening Ceremony held at Olympic Stadium with runner YAM Kwok Fan and swimmer HUI Ka Chun to fly Hong Kong’s flag and lead the Delegation in the Parade.

The Games marked the duo’s first time being the flag bearer.  YAM Kwok Fan felt honoured and expected that Hong Kong citizens will be watching the teams’ performance through live TV broadcasting.  HUI Ka Chun expressed that it was a truly unforgettable experience to be selected as the flag bearer and hoped the public will continue to support Hong Kong team.

After the Opening Ceremony, Hong Kong Delegation Chef de Mission WU Siu Ling said, “our athletes seized every chance to reinforce their performance during the pre-games training and get themselves fully prepared for the events.  On behalf of the Delegation members, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the public for their massive support.  And we hope we could bring more good news to Hong Kong.

The first competition day will commenced tomorrow (25 August) and Hong Kong team will compete in swimming Men’s and Women’s 100m Butterfly S14, where medals will be decided on the same day, and table tennis Women’s Singles TT11 preliminary rounds.
